British Columbia Leads Boy's Junior America's Cup

jramewricascupheasding500pix.jpgA Canadian foursome from British Columbia holds a one-stroke lead following Tuesday's first round of the 40th annual Boys Junior America's Cup being held at at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho.

Setting the pace among 17 four-man teams from the western United States., western Canada and Mexico with a score of 209 are Jordan Lu, Curtis Chan, Jooho Lee and Tony Mak.

Defending champion Northern California is currently in second place overall at 210. Oregon and Southern California share second at 211.

A team representing Alberta shares seventh place with Washington State seven shots behind British Columbia.

The Idaho Golf Association is hosting the event for the third time.

Cole Madey of the Oregon team leads the field individually shooting a 6 under par round of 64, while Jordan Lu and Rico Hoey of Southern California share second place with a 4-under par 66.

At the Girl's Junior America's Cup being played in Hawaii at Wailea Golf Resort's Gold Course in Wailea, Maui, the host Hawaiian team holds a commanding seven-shot lead at two-under par 214.

The British Columbia team of Naomi Ko (75), Keanna Mason of Victoria, (76), Alix Kong, Maple Ridge, (79) and Grace Chua of White Rock, (88) is alone in seventh place among 18 teams competing, 16 shots behind Hawaii with a total score of 230.
