Christopher McGrath, a native of Whitby, Ont., who recently graduated with a Masters in Sport Commerce from the University of Memphis in Tennessee, has joined British Columbia Golf (BCG) as Manager of Communications and Marketing.
Prior to pursuing his Masters, McGrath, 24, gained valuable experience with the Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) in various capacities, including Marketing and Communications, Tournament Execution and Player Development. He also served as a Market Researcher while with Aspire Group/Leicester City Football Club in Leicester, UK as a Market Researcher.
McGrath also holds an Honours Degree in Sport Management from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont.
"We are very pleased to have him on board," announced Kris Jonasson, Executive Director of BCG. "Christopher shares our passion for amateur golf and we are looking forward to working with him to further progress British Columbia Golf as a leader in our industry".
While in Memphis, McGrath was a volunteer with the First Tee of Memphis, the Universities Athletic Programs and assisted his advisor in a joint research study between the University of Memphis and U.S.A. Swimming. He was the Vice-President for the Universities Sport Marketing Association and represented his University on two Case Competition teams that were selected to compete against other student groups at countrywide sport business conferences.
"Christopher's prior work experience makes him a great fit for (this) position and we look forward to the future," Jonasson stated.
"I am thoroughly excited to get started with British Columbia Golf," said McGrath. "I have always known that I wanted to work in the golf business and the opportunity that the BCG has provided me will allow me to reach my goals while bettering this great organization".
