Members of the pro shop staff at Vancouver's Shaugnessy Golf and Country Club, who helped to host the 2011 RBC Canadian Open Golf Championship, have been selected winners in four prestigious categories in the 20th Annual Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia Awards of the Year program.
Scott Dickson, Shaughnessy's Director of Golf for the past nine seasons, was this week announced as the recipient of the Golf Professional of the Year Award presented by Clarity Success Coaching. Dickson was also with the club when it hosted the PGA TOUR for the 2005 Bell Canadian Open.
Last week Dickson, a 25-year veteran with the Canadian PGA, announced he was leaving Shaughnessy to become the only ninth Head Professional in the 105-year history of Ontario's storied Mississauga Golf & Country Club.
The Apprentice of the Year Award, presented annually by Cleveland Golf / Srixon Canada, has been won by Lindsay Bernakevitch of Shaughnessy.
Shaughnessy G&CC was also named to receive the Golf Shop of the Year Award presented by Fletcher Leisure Group and the Golf Facility of the Year Award presented by Simmlands Insurance Brokers.
Named the PGA of BC Player of the Year, presented by Mountain Galleries, for the fifth year in a row and the eighth time in the 15-year history of the award, is Bryn Parry, a veteran CPGA teaching professional at North Vancouver's Seymour Creek Golf Centre. Parry is also a CSIA certified ski instructor at Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver.
The 2010 Canadian PGA Assistant's Champion and currently #3 on the CPGA players Top 10 Ranking, Parry is also recognized as an outstanding golf teacher. Last week he so impressed a new student during their first three hours together that Parry was invited to accompany the student to continue their lessons this week at his home in Dubai.
Keri Moffat of Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club was chosen Teacher of the Year presented by Maui Jim Sunglasses.
The Coach of the Year award winner presented by Golf Supply House is Robert Ratcliffe of Crown Isle Golf Resort.
The Junior Golf Leader of the Year presented by Rampion Enterprises Ltd., is Peter Stellato of Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club.
Brice MacDonald of the Black Mountain Golf Club has been chosen to receive the Professional Development Award presented by Brandroom Creative.
Order of Merrit Award Winner among Club Professionals presented for the first time by Club Car is Dan Swanson of Guildford Golf Club, who this season successfully defended his PGA of BC Club Professional Championship.
Named the 2010 Assistant Professional of the Year, Mark Strong of Vancouver Golf Club is this season's Member of the Year Award Winner presented by Specialist Referral Clinic.
Selected Sales Representative of the Year, which is presented by MedRay MRI, is Andy Dexter of Callaway Golf Canada.
In October in a special presentation at Richmond Golf & Country Club 87-year-old Jim Gibson was honoured with the presentation of only the sixth PGA of BC's valued Lifetime Achievement Award. View Presentation
A celebration evening honouring all PGA of British Columbia recipients and finalists will take place on Monday March 5, 2012 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, in conjunction with the 2012 PGA of BC Spring Education Seminar.
