Team Ontario successfully defended its Canadian Junior Boys Provincial Championship title by defeating Team Alberta by three strokes at the Richmond Country Club in British Columbia
Team Ontario, comprised of Toronto's Albin Choi, Sean Carlino of Hamilton, Jack Gibson of Fort Erie and Chris Hemmerich of Kitchener, had a six shot lead over Alberta following the opening round and nine ahead of Alberta. Although Team Alberta made up six of those shots in round two, Ontario hung on for a two-round total of seven-over par 439 and the province's third Team title in 10 years.

"The guys were well prepared and deserved to be playing in this championship," said John Roy, Head Provincial Coach. "This award shows that their training paid off and they should be proud of themselves."
Team Alberta, comprised of Carson Kallis of Red Deer, Sang Gyun Lee of Calgary, Scott Lowe of Calgary and Tyler Saunders of Sturgeon County, tallied a two-round total of 442 (+10) to finish second.
Team Quebec finished third with a team total 444 (+12). Representing the province was Francis Bettiaume of Valleyfield, Jean Sébastien Bonin of Deux Montagnes, Raoul Ménard of Ange-Gardien and Jean Sébastien Viau of Boisbriand.
In the individual competition, Development Squad member Richard Jung of Toronto kept a strong hold on the lead carding six birdies to finish his second round at two-under par 70. Ménard lopped a stroke off his first round 69 and is two shots off the pace at seven-under 137. Wilson Bateman of Spruce Grove, Albt., is alone in third at 139.
"I had a bad start, but was able to recover on the back nine," said Jung. "I just needed to focus on the fact that I knew I could do it."
Among the players making significant improvements after their opening rounds were Mitch Sutton of London, Ont., (74-68-142); Charlie Hughes, Burnaby, BC, (75-69-144) and Cameron Davison, Duncan, BC, (77-69-146)
The Canadian Junior Boy's Champion, crowned on Friday, will earn an exemption into the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship slated for the London Hunt & Country Club as well as Redtail Golf Course August 10 - 15 at
