CGSA Vice President Takes On New Challenges

(August 21, 2910)
After 30 years of service to the members of the Royal Mayfair Club in Edmonton Alberta, Course Superintendent Debbie Amirault announced her departure from the club this month to pursue other interests.

Along with hosting the Canadian Women's Open in 2008 and overseeing many improvements to the course leading up to this upcoming Women's Open, Ms. Amirault has also spent the last five years as a Director on the Board of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA). She currently holds the position of Vice-President and will assume the role of President from Greg Holden, Superintendent of Clear Lake Golf Club in March of 2011.

"I am confident that the Royal Mayfair Golf Club is in a very good position to take on the long range plan that has been approved for the club and that my tenure has resulted in many improvements to the golf course and its infrastructure," said Debbie following her departure. "I am looking forward to taking on some exciting new challenges over the next few months and years and to continuing my involvement on the CGSA Board of Directors.

Greg Holden, CGSA President noted that, "Debbie has been a very active supporter and a significant part of the CGSA Board for many years and I am looking forward to having her assume the role of CGSA President." He indicated that this would be the first time that a national superintendent association in North America would have a female President and Chairperson.

Although no specific plans have been announced, Royal Mayfair has indicated that it plans to "honour Debbie's contributions" to the club.
