British Columbia's Karen Pultz of Surrey shot a 73, and is four strokes back while Josée Deslauriers of Brossard, Que., and Susan Pearl of Ottawa sit in third place with 3-over.

Diane Williams of Calgary, Alt., takes the opening-round lead in the super-senior division at 4-over par 77, while Marilyn Moscovitch of West Vancouver, B.C., shot at a 78, one stroke behind Williams to take second. Tied for third are Marilyn O'Connor of Calgary, Alt., and Madelaine Campbell of Newport Beach, CA with 7-over par 80.

Coinciding with the senior competition is the inter-provincial team championship competing in conjunction with the first two rounds of stroke play. The best three of four scores will count towards overall team total.

Ontario leads the Inter-provincial Team Championships with 227, while Host province British Columbia sits three strokes behind at 230. Quebec sits in third place with 235.

The Royale Cup Canadian Women's Senior Championship is open to women who have reached their 50th birthday by the first scheduled day of the championship, August 24, 2010. Corresponding with the championship is the Super Senior competition, open to female amateurs who have reached their 60th birthday by the first scheduled day of the championship, August 24, 2010.
