2010 LITTLE MASTERS Golf Championship

First held in 1966, this championship for junior golfers offers these young players their first opportunity for competing and enjoying in the true spirit of sportsmanship that the international game of golf has to offer.

The Little Masters is organized and conducted under the leadership of one of the pioneers of Junior Golf in British Columbia, Harry White, whose teams of volunteers have shaped the lives of so many young men and women over the years.

A field of over 100 junior boys and girls started play on Monday, August 12, 2010 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, with a variety of weather, sunshine, clouds and rain and sun again. This did not deter the enthusiastic participants who also took part each day in the "Skills Contests" for putting and chipping at the Musqueam Golf Centre, which also features a very popular "putt putt" course. The Musqueam Band are great hosts!

Day 2 saw the field play the sporty Langley Golf Centre layout, in excellent shape and had the highlight of the day with James Chang of Richmond, scoring a Hole-in-One on hole #12, at 140 yards. Langley Golf Centre manager and owner Sylvia Allenby provided a special engraved trophy to record the feat! Many thanks Langley GC!!! Henry Lee of Coquitlam scored a fabulous 50, 4 under Par!

The Day 3 golf course was in Delta, the Sunshine Woods GC, with another great day of weather on the challenging and long Par 3 layout. Blueberries and Blackberries were in good supply and were they ever tasty! More exciting and solid golf, closest to the pin contests again featured at all courses,but no hole in one's today, though some were close. Again, Henry Lee of Coquitlam was under Par, the only golfer to do so. Well done!

Day 4 at the Kings Links gave the golfers the feel of "old country golf" in Scotland - rolling links land and just enough breeze to add to the challenge of the sloping and smooth greens. Some outstanding scores were returned by two of the younger set, firstly a 5-under Par round of 68 for Vancouver's Tiffany Kong, age 10, matched also by 8 year old Ilirian Zalli, also of Vancouver. Special yardage was used according to international standards and did these youngsters show the gallery!
