For more than 30 years attracting spectators to any of the national amateur championships organized by the former Royal Canadian Golf Association never seemed to be of any great concern to the RCGA. Over the years even some players became somewhat blasé about playing in the Canadian championships. The high caliber of golf was always there, but something missing.
