The induction ceremony for six-time national golf champion Brent Franklin into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, that was to have taken place this month at Vancouver's Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, has now been moved to Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ontario and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame & Museum. Also the date of the ceremony has been put off for another month or so. No official reason has been given but it's believed that family members, now living closer to Ontario, request consideration of the change. Brent Franklin had a close association with Shaughnessy, particularly during his junior years when his mentor was the late Jack McLaughlin, Shaughnessy's legendary Head Professional. Franklyn was Canadian Junior champion in 1983-84, Canadian Amateur Champion in 1985-86-87 and Canadian PGA Champion in 1988.

It comes as no surprise that the revered Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ont. has been selected to host the 2012 RBC Canadian Open. PGA TOUR players loved the course in 2003 and 2006. It will cost the national golf association approximately $1 million for the privilege of going to Ancaster but at least it will keep the players coming back instead of taking a holiday following the British Open.
