Four-time Canadian Senior Women's Champion Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C., won her first Alberta Senior Ladies Championhship when she defeated B.C. teammate Karen Pultz of Surrey with a par on the first playoff hole.
Murdoch, from the Victoria Golf Club, and Pulz, from Peace Portal, finished three rounds tied at 12-over par 228 after Murdoch collected five bogeys over her final 10 holes while Pulz played flawlessly over her final nine.
Last year, Murdoch lost to fellow B.C. rival Jackie Little in a playoff for the honours at Innisfail.
A member of the BC Golf Hall of Fame, Murdoch has become a prolific winner as a senior player. Aside from her four Canadian Senior Women's titles, the 60-year-old retired civil servant has won the Irish Senior Championship on four occasions, the British Senior Championship in 2007, a PNGA Senior and two PNGA Mid Amateur titles and the British Columbia Senior championship in 2005 and 2009.
Another member of the BC Hall Fame, Marilyn O'Conner of Calgary, who is also a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, made a triumphant return from major heart surgery in 2008 by finishing alone in third place at 232, one shot in front of Vancouver's Holly Horwood.
Gaylene Donald of the host Silver Springs Golf & Country Club shared fifth place at 234 with Alberta's Lynn Kuehn from the Lacombe Golf & CC.
