Seeking a Turf Equipment Manager
Northview Golf & Country Club is a public golf course located in Surrey, BC.
This 36 - hole facility with extensive practice area and driving range was designed by Arnold Palmer and was the home of the PGA Tour event, The Air Canada Championship, for seven years.
The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and/or assistants and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labour needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of the equipment to the superintendent and/or assistants, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the two equipment technicians. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Typical functions:
ยง Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel-, gasoline-, and electric-powered vehicles, mowers, rollers, trenchers, trucks, and other equipment used in turf maintenance
- - - Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work
- - - Maintains a preventative maintenance program within budget on all equipment and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies
- - - Keeps a complete set of detailed records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment
- - - Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, and frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of the equipment prior to use
Successful Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- - - Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience
- - - Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment
- - - Knowledge of reel grinding, mower set-up and adjustment
- - - Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and the making of various types of mechanical repair
- - - Working knowledge of hydraulics and electrical trouble shooting
- - - Good working ability of a computer and computer applications
- - - Welding and fabrication would be an asset
Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications of the successful candidate
