Charlotte Mayorkas - Canadian Women's Tour Winner

Mayorkas defeated Team Canada member Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Ont. to capture the second event on the 2010 CN Canadian Women's Tour at Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton, Ont.

Sherlock earned the low amateur title with a final score of one-over par 145.

Mayorkas and Sherlock went head-to-head after the pair finished tied at 1-over par through 36 holes of regulation play. Returning to the 18th hole, a 390 yard par 4, Mayorkas earned her victory after making par while Sherlock carded a bogey.

"I knew that coming in today, it was going to be tough," said Mayorkas, who bagged three birdies, 12 pars and three bogeys for her final round of 1-over par 73.

"There were a lot of good players at the top of the leaderboard, and I just had to stay patient because of the wind and the weather. This is my first year playing in the CN Canadian Women's Tour and I love it. It's a great opportunity for women to play."

Mayorkas, 26, a former LPGA Tour member who had her best year in 2007 playing in 19 events and earning $154,187, will return to the big league when the CN Canadian Women's Open is held August 23-29 at St. Charles Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.

Team Canada's Nicole Vandermade of Brantford, Ont. finished third at 2-over par (75-71-146). Lisa Ferrero of Lodi, CA (72-75-147) finished tied for fourth at 3-over par with opening-round leader Jennifer Greggain of Rosedale, B.C. (70-77-147). Greggain earned top Club Teaching Professional honours.

Canadian Golf Hall of Famer and the only Canadian to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, Marlene Stewart Streit, came out to Acton to watch theaction. Streit is the only player to have won the Canadian, U.S., British and Australian Amateur in her career.

The next and final stop for the CN Canadian Women's Tour stop takes place July 11-13 at Club de golf Rivermead in Aylmer, Que. The event similarly features a $60,000 purse, including $10,000 for the winner, as well as a champion's exemption into the 2010 CN Canadian Women's Open.

Players competing on the Tour also earn points towards the CN Canadian Women's Tour Order of Merit. The player with the most points at the end of the season earns the Jocelyne Bourassa Player of the Year Award. The top three players on the CN Canadian Women's Tour season-ending Order of Merit will be awarded direct entry and entry fees paid into both LPGA Tour Sectional Qualifying Tournaments. The top three players not already exempt also earn entry into the 2010 CN Canadian Women's Open.
