What a difference a day makes. Tuesday Christine Wong of Richmond shattered the women's course record at Arbutus Ridge Golf & Country Club at Coble Hill. A day later she couldn't even break par, although her lead has increased through two rounds of the British Columbia Women's Amateur championship on Vancouver Island.

The school year is almost out and the first Junior/Divot Tour event at Musqueam Golf Centre in Vancouver produced a memorable day for a full field of 40 junior boys and girls who signed up to play and take part in putting and chipping skills contests. Unexpected, however, was the amazing feat accomplished by Patrick Chan.
Setting a new course record at the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club in Cobble Hill, in the opening round of the British Columbia Women's Amateur can certainly be considered an excellent way for Richmond's Christine Wong to prepare for her appearance in next week's U.S. Women's Open Championship.

After a one hole playoff Charlotte Mayorkas of Las Vegas, NV won $10,000 on the CN Canadian Women's Tour in Ontario Tuesday and earned a place in the field for the $2.25 million (US) CN Canadian Women's Open on the LPGA Tour in Winnipeg in August.
