Members of the Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia are preparing to make 2010 the biggest year on record with their annual province-wide Golf-A-Thon fund raising campaigns for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and the ALS of BC.
With nearly $340,000 raised over the past four seasons by golfers throughout the province, led mainly by members of the PGA of BC, the goal for this year is to top $500,000.
So far at least 42 PGA of BC golf facilities and some 98 golfers throughout B.C. -- most of them PGA of BC professionals -- have committed to participate in an exciting golf-a-thon at some point during the month of June or later to raise funds for ALS patient services.
The ALS Society of BC last week presented the PGA of BC with a special award in appreciation of the work the Association professionals have put into this campaign to fight Lou Gehrig's Disease. The golf-a-thons are one of the most significant sources of funds raised by ALS BC each year.
Anyone interested in taking part in this very satisfying and important fundraiser while enjoying a day on the golf course or donating time and/or funds is encouraged to contact Wendy Toyer, Executive Director of the ALS Society of BC, at 604.685.0737 or 1.800.708.3228 or by email at wendy@alsbc.ca.
