For those prospectors who believe that the gold rush days of the old west are just a thing of the past, take note: there is a new rich vein waiting to be tapped by the winner of the summer-long MOUNTAINS OF GOLD Golf Tournament which will take place in British Columbia's famous Kootenay Rockies beginning in May.
The 2010 summer-long Mountains of Gold Golf Event and season-ending $1,000,000 first place prize is now fully endorsed by the Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia.
Some 20,000 golfers are being invited to play three premier courses with three nights of luxury accommodation in the Kootenay Rockies over the 2010 golf season, with 400 qualifiers, including 100 pre-qualified professionals, vying for a chance to play for a $1,000,000 first prize in September 2010.
"We at the PGA have a responsibility to both the game of golf and our members in Western Canada, " says Brian Butters, Executive Director of the PGA of BC. "This event is not only unusual in its structure, it also sums up everything that golf should be about - Golfers having fun, being challenged on outstanding courses, and enjoying the hospitality of a PGA endorsed event."
"Ultimately we see this event as a way for the PGA of BC to get closer to the grass roots of golfers in what promises to be a spectacular event. We encourage golfers of all abilities, with a registered handicap or not, to come out and enjoy this spectacular region".
All participants will have the opportunity to play world-class mountain golf courses, in an outstanding environment, enjoying the accommodation, the welcome of the region, as well as the excitement of playing for the big prize.
The two primary courses, Shadow Mountain Golf Accademy and St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino, are considered two of the most spectacular courses in the Canadian Rockies.
Those interested in participating are invited to contact the Mountains of Gold office Toll Free on 1 877 427 7847 or log onto www.mountainsofgold.com for more information.
