VAN ISLE CUP Captured By Vancouver Golf Tour

The Vancouver Golf Tour flexed its muscles for the second day in a row to overpower members of the Vancouver Island Professional Tour and claim the inaugural VAN ISLE CUP by a margin of 11 points to 5 in a Ryder Cup-styled competition between 12 players from each tour.
After winning five of six opening round team matches played at Richmond Golf & Country Club, the VGT proceeded to win six of the 12 singles matches and tied in two others in competition at Point Roberts Golf Club for an overall points total of 11-5.
"This is just the start of what we're sure will be a great annual tournament for years to come," said Fraser Mulholland, commissioner of the VGT, which organizes more than 20 tournaments each season for members of the PGA of British Columbia, a number of which also play on the national Canadian Tour.
In 2011 the Van Isle Cup will be played on Vancouver Island with competition held at the renowned Bear Mountain Golf Club near Victoria.
