PGA Champions Tour
With a grant of $2,350,000 from the Government of Canada to fund marketing and promotion over a three year period the U.S. PGA TOUR will stage a Champions Tour event for their senior players in Montreal in July.
The inaugural 54-hole Montreal Championship, featuring a 78-player field, will be conducted at Fontainebleau Golf Club in Quebec boasting a $1.8 million USD purse with the winner earning $ 270,000. It will be broadcast on both The Golf Channel and Le Réseau des sports (RDS).
The Champions Tour event will be organized by Montreal-based Synchro Sports, the same group that staged last year's Desjardins Montreal Open in August on the Canadian Tour. With this year's Montreal Open as yet undecided, it looks like the Canadian Tour is getting the shaft once again from the PGA TOUR, as well as both the federal government and the tournament organizer.
Two years ago Wayne Gretzky and Ford joined together with the PGA TOUR's secondary Nationwide Tour to stage an event in Clarksburg, Ont., just down the road from where the Canadian Tour normally holds an event and last year the Nationwide event was scheduled for the same weekend of a Canadian Tour event going on in Saskatoon.

Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Srixon as the Official Ball of the Tour. Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada has been involved with the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour since its inception 11 years ago but this new arrangement will be a huge bonus for MJT Executive Director Murray Poje and the hundreds of young players competing this season.
Junior golfers will receive a dozen Srixon golf balls at every MJT tournament in 2010 in addition to a bonus dozen at every third tournament played. This valuable gift to young golfers will help their parents out financially while benefitting their golf games with a technologically superior product.
"Srixon is proud to support the future of golf in Canada via players on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's highly-regarded program," says Dan Dodman, President of Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada.
The MJT launches its 12th season of more than 50 tournaments and clinics across Canada in 2010 on March 11th and 12th at Quilchena Golf Club in Richmond, BC. The organization also qualifies players for spots to international events in Australia, Thailand, the U.K. and the USA. Players benefit from annual awards, scholarships, and frequent player incentives
