CNCanadianWomensTourLogo152pix.jpgPlaying on the CN Canadian Women's Tour will offer players far more than just experience in 2010 following an announcement by CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association his week that Tour winners will now receive paid Exemptions into LPGA Tour Sectional Qualifying, receive Duramed Futures Tour eligibility and that six players will be offered spots in the 2010 CN Canadian Women's Open Championship.

"This year the CN Canadian Women's Tour season is going to be one of our best yet," said Richard Kuypers, Tournament Coordinator for the CN Canadian Women's Open. "The top three players on the order of merit will receive their fees (a $5,000 value) into the LPGA Tour Sectional Qualifying Tournaments. This important enhancement to our Tour will undoubtedly help to attract the best possible field of competitors to our championships."

As well, the winner from each of the Tour's three events will receive an exemption directly into the CN Canadian Women's Open with an additional three exemptions being awarded based on the CN Canadian Women's Tour Order of Merit standings.

The season gets underway May 5-7 at Richmond, B.C.'s Quilchena Golf & Country Club, beginning with a practice round, a 9-hole Pro-Am and a 36-hole championship. This will be the Quilchena club's first RCGA sanctioned event.

Other Tour stops will be on June 27-29 at Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton, Ont., and July 11-13 at Club de golf Rivermead in Gatineau, Que.

Total season prize money for 2010 is $180,000 (CDN) with each 36-hole championship purse valued at $60,000 and the champion awarded a winners cheque for $10,000.

Many of Canada's elite female golfers have used the CN Canadian Women's Tour to hone their skills and develop as athletes both on and off the course. CN Canadian Women's Tour alumnae include Lorie Kane, Alena Sharp, Samantha Richdale, Jessica Shepley, Adrienne White, Lisa Meldrum and Cindy Pasechnik
