For Better Golf - Try Wearing A Makkar Mouthguard

(January 27, 2010)
MakarMouthguardLogo15opix.jpgMost athletes who wear mouth guards for sports like hockey, football, boxing or even basketball do so in order to protect against the loss of teeth. However, Oakville, Ontario-based Makkar Pure Power Athletics, Inc. has introduced a 'mouthguard' for golfers that may provide some players with more distance, improved balance and better oxygen flow.

News Release - Makkar Advantage

LPGA Tour star Suzann Pettersen, who wore a Makkar Pure Power Mouthguard for most of her highly successful 2009 tournament season, has signed an agreement with Makkar Pure Power Athletics, Inc.

One of the hottest game improvement products in professional and amateur sports, the Makkar PPM™ mouthguard is a custom-designed sports orthotic worn by athletes to enhance strength, balance, flexibility, range of motion, endurance and oxygen flow.

Since Pettersen started wearing the PPM™ in spring of 2009, the native of Norway says she feels stronger, her range of motion has increased, and she is hitting the ball farther.

"When I first put the PPM™ in my mouth, I noticed a huge increase in my shoulder and hip rotation. When I'm coming into impact, I feel incredible power in my arms. I'm definitely hitting the ball farther with the PPM™," says Pettersen, who finished fifth on the 2009 LPGA Tour money list with US$1.3 million and enjoyed 11 top 10s this season, including her five-stroke win in the CN Canadian Women's Open.

"I feel really relaxed with the PPM™ in my mouth, which is very important in golf, especially with putting. I also get a really good workout when I wear my PPM™. There's a big difference when I'm not wearing it," says Pettersen, a winner of 10 professional tour events worldwide in her career.

PPM™ Making A Big Difference

Jay Dhaliwal, CEO of Makkar Pure Power Athletics, Inc., based in Oakville, Ontario, says: "We are extremely proud to work with a great athlete such as LPGA Tour star Suzann Pettersen, and that the Makkar PPM™ is making such a positive difference in her game.

"Announcing Suzann as an ambassador for Makkar PPM™ is an important step in our quest to help more golfers achieve peak performance so they can play better and enjoy the game more," Dhaliwal adds.

The Makkar PPM™ is also helping golfers on the PGA Tour. Scott McCarron is one of 14 PGA Tour players who wear a Makkar PPM™ to play, practice and work out.

The Makkar PPM™ offers golfers a number of advantages:
· Improved flexibility means greater shoulder turn which increases club head speed, resulting in greater distance
· More strength leads to more distance and the ability to hit the ball solidly from various lies
· Better balance leads to better ball-striking
· When the muscles in your face are relaxed, there's less tension over the ball, particularly for putting
· Greater oxygen intake leads to enhanced endurance and clearer thinking through an entire round

Pettersen joins the growing ranks of elite athletes using the Makkar PPM™ to enhance their performance, including Shaquille O'Neal of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Michael Redd of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Terrell Owens of the Buffalo Bills.

New Orlean's Saints' players wearing PPM™

The Makkar PPM™ is creating a huge buzz in professional and amateur sports. In November, the Makkar PPM™ was discussed by the broadcast team on Monday Night Football during the New Orleans Saints' 35-27 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Most players on the Super Bowl-bound Saints wear the PPM™ mouthguard. Analyst and former NFL coach Jon Gruden said: "An NFL player would not put a $2,000 mouthpiece in his mouth if it didn't work."

Invented by Canadian neuromuscular dentist Anil Makkar, the PPM™ is the result of 40 years of proven neuromuscular dentistry research. Dr. Makkar developed the device out of his work treating neuromuscular disorders in his practice.

Custom-fitted by a Makkar PPM™-certified dentist using advanced computer technology, the mouthguard optimizes an athlete's bite, which aligns the skeletal structure and puts muscles in an ideal relaxed state, which promotes maximum athletic performance.

"With your bite optimized, the muscles of your face completely relax, your neck becomes more aligned to your spine, and your entire body becomes more aligned," says Dr. Makkar.

When you have total alignment you have increased strength, balance, range of motion, and an increase in flexibility and endurance," Dr. Makkar told the Los Angeles Times.
