PGA TOUR Qualifying School - Round Three

(December 4/09)
The Canadian Tour's leading money winner, Graham Delaet, dodged some nasty weather and managed to elevate himself into a tie for 3rd place in the third round of the PGA TOUR's National Qualifying School at wind-swept West Palm Beach, Florida.

A morning storm delayed play for 90 minutes and another in the afternoon forced tournament officials to postpone the balance of Friday's action for about 20 players who will complete their rounds Saturday morning.

Despite the wind and rain 14 players from the field of 169 shot 66 or better, including Saskatchewan's Delaet who recorded an 8-under par 64 and is now 11-under through 54 of the 108 holes to be played.

Now living in Boise, Idaho, Delaet is one shot behind co-leaders, J.P. Hayes, who shot 63 Friday, and Troy Merritt, the second round leader who is 4-under for his round and has one hole to complete.

Barrett Jarosch of Edmonton is T9th at 207 after shooting a 68. In Thursday's second round on the Links course at Bear Lakes, Barosch began on the back nine with a birdie, pared 11 and 12, then scored six birdies in a row to post an opening nine of 7-under 29. However, he closed his day with a 37 on the front side to come in at 66 and vault from T35 to a solo third place.

The top 25 and ties will receive fully exempt PGA TOUR cards at the end of round six Monday. The next number of players nearest to 50 will receive fully exempt membership on the Nationwide Tour. The remaining players who have made it to the final stage of Q-school will have conditionally exempt status on the Nationwide Tour.
