(October 6/09)
Two-time reigning Canadian Senior Women's title-holder Jackie Little of Port Alberni, British Columbia overcame a two-shot deficit over her final nine holes to successfully defend her Pacific Northwest Golf Association Senior Women's Amateur championship in Hayden Lake, Idaho.
Trailing first round leader Terri Frohnmayer of Salem, Oregon by two strokes to begin the day and still two behind at the turn, Little began her charge on the back nine at the Hayden Lake Country Club with a birdie on the par-five 10th hole and quickly took command of the tournament when Frohnmayer double bogeyed the par-three 11th.
A member of the BC Golf Association team that captured the PNGA Cup Matches in Boise, ID in May and a second round finalist at this year's U.S. Senior Women's Amateur, Little recorded a pair of one-over par 73s to finish at two-over 146 and wound up four shots ahead of runners-up Frohnmayer and 2009 Irish Senior Women's Amateur champion Alison Murdoch of Victoria, BC.
Since turning 50 last year, Little has made a big impression in senior women's golf. A five-time BC Amateur champion, Little has captured the Canadian Senior Women's Amateur in each of the past two seasons, was a member of BC's Canadian Senior Inter-Provincial Championship Team, won the BC Senior Women's title and claimed her second consecutive BC Mid-Amateur crown. With her back-to-back PNGA Senior Women's victories, Little has won six individual provincial, Canadian and International championships in three years. (photo: Jackie Little. RCGA)
