Suzann Petterson - Wins CN Canadian Women's Open

The seven-year Tour veteran carded a final-round one-under par to finish at 15-under 269---five shots ahead of Angela Stanford and six in front of LPGA Tour and World Golf Hall of Fame member Karrie Webb.
"This feels absolutely great," said Petterson, who had gone 44 tournaments since her last win. "I've been playing very good since 2007. (I) gave myself a lot of chances to win tournaments, and like I've been saying, if you put yourself in position often enough, you'll figure out how to close the deal."

"You never feel safe," she added. "I had a five or six shot lead at one time on the back nine. But, when you're playing against good players, everything is possible. You've just got to make sure you stay on top of what you do, and try to keep hitting aggressive shots."

This was Petterson's sixth Tour win since joining the LPGA in 2003 and with her first prize prize of $412,500---her share of the US$2.75 million CN Canadian Women's Open purse---she now moves to second on the this season's money list with $1,294,810, second only to Cristie Kerr who has $1,360,786 in 2009 season earnings. Petterson's official career earnings to date: $5,230,651, placing her 30th on the all-time money-winning list.

"This is obviously the tournament to win," added Pettersen. "It's a huge tournament money wise, field wise, and also among us players. The CN (Canadian Women's Open) is one of our biggest tournaments."

Five players finished tied for second five shots back at 10-under par. Momoko Ueda, Morgan Pressel, Ai Miyazato, Angela Stanford and Karrie Webb each won $157,477.

In the media conference following the prize presentation at Priddis Greens, Petterson revealed she had received a text message from World No 1 himself.

"I got a message from Tiger this morning, 'Keep doing your shit.' So I guess I did keep doing my shit." (Laughter).
