1st Round - PNGA Men's Senior Team Championship

Tied atop the leader board are Chris DeGrazia of Lynwood, Wash. & Duane Diede of Everett, Wash.; David Howe of Tacoma, Wash. & Karl Smith of Gig Harbor, Wash., and the teamk of brothers Tom and Andy Hale of Lakewood and University Place, Wash.

Defending Co-Champions, Dick Shafer of Portland, Ore. and Bill Hood of Beaverton, Ore. are just one stroke back after an opening round of 5-under par 66. Also tied for fourth place a stroke back stroke back are partners Steve Tibbets of Mukilteo, Wash. and Mike Hickok of Kirkland, Wash. along with Larry Gilhuly and Jim McNelis of Gig Harbor, Wash.

Twenty of the 64 teams finished the day under par.

Wednesday's format will be a Chapman played on the Olympic Course before finishing with a Four-Ball format on the Olympic Course on Thursday

In the Four-ball (round one and three), each partner plays their own ball. The lower of the partners' scores is the score counted for the hole.

In the Chapman (round two), both players on the team tee off and then they switch balls for the second shot. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa. Each player plays a second shot, then they select the better of the second shots, and alternate from that point until the ball is holed; they play only one ball into the hole.

The PNGA Men's Senior Team Championships is one of 15 regional championships conducted annually by the PNGA.
