A two-time Canadian junior champion, Sutton, who will join Hill at North Carolina State University in the fall, was humble about his chances of pulling off the win this week.

“Winning will be a tough challenge with Hill and (Nick) Taylor in the field,” said Sutton. “I’m going to keep playing my game, doing what I do, and we’ll see what happens."

The two stoppages in play may have gotten to some players, but 17-year old Sutton focused on finding serenity.

“The stops and starts don’t bother me much,” he said. “I relaxed, tried to keep positive and took it one shot at a time.”

The Inter-provincial Willingdon Cup Championship will be determined following completion of Round 2.

Team Ontario (206-165-371 -13) holds a sizable 8-stroke lead over British Columbia (213-166-379 -5). The defending champion Alberta squad jumped into third at 4-over par (219-205-424 +4).

Following completion of Round 2, the field will be cut to the low 70 competitors and ties.
