Only Two Canadians Remain In U.S. Amateur

Only four of the 13 Canadians entered in the 109th U.S. Amateur Championship, underway at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, made it to match play competition this week and of those only two players from Ontario, former National Team member, Christopher Ross and Brad Revell, have survived to make it into the second round.

Ross advanced after winning his first round match 5 & 4 and Revell was victorious on the 19th hole.

However Brady Johnson, the BYU Junior from Mill Bay, BC lost his opening round match 4 & 3 and David Sherman was eliminated 2 & 1 in his first round.

From among the field of 311 players that started with stroke play on Monday, Canada's two highest ranking amateurs, World #1 Nick Taylor of Abbotsford and NCAA medalist Matt Hill of Ontario both failed to qualify or even break par.
