Curtis Chan - U.S. Kids Golf World Champion

In our 'It's never too late to acknowledge a champion" category, BC Golf News congratulates 12-year-old Curtis Chan of Richmond for winning the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship for boys 12 years of age at Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Curtis Chan was one of a number of Canadians entered recently in the World Championship, which was staged August 6-8 on the famed Pinehurst #2 course. He qualified for the final through competition organized by the Canadian Junior Golf Association.

Lucas Lukovic of Canada finished 27 shots back of Chan (77-79-78—234) in 49th place while Marc Casullo shot (88-85-79) 252 and finished 113th.

Chan also competed in the match play portion of the World Cup Team matches. Paired with Shonsei Inokowa of Japan on the International side, the pair lost 3&2 to the U.S. team of Tyler Moore and Corey Shaun of California. The matches finished with four wins a side but the U.S. claimed the title on the first hole of a playoff.

In the Girls12-year-old Division, Canadian Claire Hernandez (85-83-88—256) tied for 51st.
