Partially hidden by manicured bushes on the northwest corner of West 10th avenue and Blanca Street at the entrance to the University of British Columbia Endowment Lands in Vancouver sits the only independent golf museum and library in any province or state in North America.

Opened in 1986, the BC Golf Museum and its priceless collection of history and memories is also the only golf museum anywhere that is housed in a building that is itself an historical golf artifact.
Originally constructed in 1930, as the clubhouse for what was then the Endowment Lands Golf Club---although more affectionately called the UBC golf course---this building facing the first hole was a popular meeting place for public golfers for over 50 years.
When the course was leased out and rerouted in the mid 1980's by a private group the old building was slated for demolition but, fortunately, dedicated golf enthusiasts convinced the new operator of a reason for saving this piece of memorabilia which now proudly and majestically looks down the 17th fairway of the magnificent University Golf Club.
In 2001 the BC Golf Museum took on a significant new role when it became home to the Golf Hall of Fame of BC.
Today, the Museum and Hall of Fame continue to grow under the guardianship of a board of directors led by Executive Director Barry McWha, a lifelong member of the Canadian PGA and a student of golf history.
On the threshold of inducting new members into the Hall of Fame, BC Golf News met recently with Barry McWha to discuss some history and plans facing the BC Golf Museum, including his new role as the Executive Director, following the retirement of former Museum curator, Dorothy Brown.
