Second Round - Canadian Women's Amateur

“It wasn’t as windy today as it was yesterday, so I was able to hit a lot better,” said Kirby, who carded an eagle and four birdies on the links-style Royal Oaks Estates and Golf Club in Moncton, NB. “I tried to get into good positions to give myself chances to make the important birdie putts that I needed to make. I hope to play this well the rest of the week.”
 
After finishing at even par Tuesday, Kirby, at 138, is four strokes ahead of Team Canada teammate Sue Kim, of Langley, B.C., who is alone in second place at three-under 141. Lisa McCloskey of Malibu, Calif., Sara Maude Juneau of Fossambault, Que., and Christina Spence Proteau, the BC Amateur and Mid-Amateur champion from Port Alberni, are tied for third with 142.
 
Team Canada’s Maude-Aimée LeBlanc of Sherbrooke, Que., brought herself back into contention by shooting four-under par 68 on the day for a two-day score of 145 (+1) and currently sits tied for tenth.
 
Ontario claimed the RCGA Inter-Provincial Team Championship trophy topping Quebec by four strokes. Team Ontario was led by Kirby along with national teammates Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Nicole Vandermade of Brantford and Lisa Maunu of St. Thomas, who combined for a two day score of 426.

Quebec finished at 430 while British Columbia finished one-stroke behind in third with 431.
 
Spence Proteau, who was paired with Kirby, used her stellar 5-under par 67 to maintain her lead in the Mid-Amateur division. Jessica Luciuk of Barrhead, Alta., sits in second place with 151 (+7) while Catherine Fortin of Beauceville, Que., is in third with 155 (+11).
 
Host city native Leanne Richardson maintained her lead in the Mid-Master division with her two-day score of 157 (+13) while Calgary’s Kim Carrington sits one-stroke back in second place with 158 (+14). Marie-Therese Torti of Candiac, Que., and Calgary’s Cheryl Newman both sit in third with 160 (+16).
