Last week Soo Bin stroked her way into a playoff in the BC Women's Amateur only to miss a birdie putt on the second extra hole and see Christina Spence Porteau of Port Alberni crowned the champion.
Kim, the reigning Canadian Junior Girls’ champion and a member at Swan-e-set Bay Resort Club, shot 2-over 72 with no birdies in her opening round but Wednesday fired five birdies and a single bogey for her record birthday present which leaves her at 2-under 138.
Ram Choi of Surrey, Jisoo Keel of Coquitlam, and round one leader Jennifer Yang of Coquitlam share second place at 2-over 142. Defending champion, Sue Kim of Langley and Christine Wong of Richmond ae tied for fifth at 3-over 143.
The top four finishers will represent the BCGA August 3-7 at the Royale Canadian Junior Girls’ Championship at Hampton Golf Club in Hampton, NB.
