Johan Immelman, a past Commissioner of the South African PGA Tour, current CEO of the Sbonelo Scholarship Foundation in Charlotte, North Carolina and the father of former Masters Champion Trevor Immelman, has accepted an appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Tour.

“The Canadian Tour is becoming more of an international organization every year and the appointment of Johan Immelman brings tremendous experience to our Board at the highest levels of the game,” stated Jim Kabrajee, Chairman of the Board, Canadian Tour. “Mr. Immelman brings a wealth of insight to a Board that is already rich with talent from the world of business.”
Mr. Immelman started his career as an architectural draughtsman before joining Distell, South Africa’s premier producer and marketer of fine wines and distilled spirits. In his twenty-three years with Distell, he served as Marketing Manager in their International Division, President of Henry C. Collison & Sons based in Arlington, Texas and Marketing Director for Castle Wine & E. K. Green, another subsidiary of Distell.
Before his appointment as Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour in South Africa, Mr. Immelman was the Project Director for the John Cunningham Leadership Institute at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.
Johan and June Immelman have three children. Their eldest son Mark is the Head Golf Coach for Columbus State University and their daughter Michelle and her family live in Somerset West, South Africa. Trevor, the youngest, is a professional golfer and the 2008 Masters Champion who campaigns on the PGA TOUR, European Tour and Sunshine Tour.
The Canadian Tour is a member of the International Federation of PGA Tours with tournament operations across Canada, in Latin America, Mexico and the United States.
Since 1986 the Canadian Tour has graduated more than one hundred players to the PGA TOUR with 98 victories and over $365 million in career earnings.
