Christina Spence Proteau Tops Two Leaderboards

After four bogeys on the front side, Spence Proteau rebounded with four birdies  and a single bogey the rest of the way home to take the lead in both provincial championships.
 
Langley's Sue Kim, Kristina Gargaro of Port Moody, Christine Wong of Richmond and Lindy LaBauve of Scottsdale, Arizona share a four way tie for second  place at 2-over par 74, while Soo-Bin Kim of Port Coquitlam sits alone in sixth at 4-over 76.

Defending champion, Kira Meixner of Richmond, an amateur player on the Duramed FUTURES Tour in the U.S., is tied for twelfth after shooting 78.

Defending B.C. Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion Jackie Little of Port Alberni is four shots behind Spence P{roteau afrer carding a 5-over par 77. Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna is in third place at 79. Newly crowned B.C. Senior Women’s champion, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, is in fourth at 8-over 80. Jessica Luciuk of Barrhead, AB and Karen Pultz, Surrey, round out the top five at 9-over.

The mid- amateur, open to female amateurs 25 years of age and older as of June 30, 2009, is a 54-hole championship while the Ladies Amateur is 72 holes with club and zone championships included. The top four finishers will represent B.C at the Royale Cup Nationale Women's Amateur Championship at Royal Oaks Golf Links in Moncton, NB. July 27 –  July 31.
