Small Is Big In PGA of BC Pro-Women's Team Championship

Head Professional Stephen Marleau and his amateur temmates from the Salt Spring Island GC, Julie Tyler, Franki Johnstone and Joanna Barrett, who shot a net 68, captured the team honours this week at the championship hosted by Fury Creek Golf & Country Club.

The Salt Spring Island quartet shot a 2-Best-Ball Net score of 124 to finish three shots ahead of the second place Mission Golf & Country Club of pro Mark Anderson, Wendy Hale,Nancy McLennan and Patti Traquair.

The host Furry Creek Golf Club team rounded out the top 3, five shots off the pace.

The two-time defending champions--- pro/manager Keith Gibson, Kim Clark, Brenda Schwab and Kristi Gilbert from Long Breach Golf Club near Tofinao on Vancouver Island---finished 14 strokes in arrears in 12th place among the 16 teams participating.

Fairwinds Golf Club head pro Brett Standerwick carded a 1-under par 71 for Low Professional honours in the championship presented by Cracked Wheat.
