Creation of the BC Golf Association's newest provincial championship, the inaugural BC Fresh Egg Scramble, continues to grow.
Being introduced this first season to BC's Lower Mainland clubs (Zones 3 & 4), the BC Fresh Egg Scramble will take place on Sunday, August 30 at the University Golf Club and will involve teams consisting of men, women and a golf professional playing in a net scramble format.
Each team representing a club can be formed in whichever manner they choose as long as they respect the handicap factors for the individuals. It is suggested that existing events such as men's night and ladies' day be used as qualifying events and that a modest charge of $10 per person will cover the team entry fee if as few as 75 try to qualify.
Qualifying starts July 1 and all teams should be decided by the close of the long weekend in August. Clubs can formally enter a team starting Wednesday, July 1 and have until Tuesday, August 4 to complete qualifying and identify their team.
The BCGA will accept the first 30 clubs who commit to a team and clubs can enter a second team if all spots have not been claimed by Monday July 20th at noon.
Global TV and the Pacific Newspaper Group (Vancouver Sun and Province) are participating as sponsors and will be supporting the event through promotions running through the summer and on the day of the event. This is a one of a kind event certainly at the level of a provincial championship.
