Kira Meixner Blog #4 - The Futures Tour Q-School
BC Golf News is pleased to present the fourth and final blog in our series with Canadian National Team member Kira Meixner of Richmond, BC, who reported from Lakeland, Florida this week while attending the Durammed FUTURES Tour Qualifying School, the official supplemental tour of the LPGA Tour.

Today was the final round of the qualifier and I shot 70 to finish tied for 5th!
I really had a good time out on the course - I was nervous going out, but I just tried to stay calm and enjoy the challenge.
I hit the ball well and gave myself plenty of chances for birdies. I made a few, but I also left some out there. I definitely have to credit my irons this week as the best part of my game. It is important for me to hit a lot of greens, and fortunately I was able to do that in this tournament.
I am so happy that I will have full status on the Duramed FUTURES Tour for 2009. I think it's great that golfers can play on this tour and retain their amateur status. It gives players like me a chance to prepare for Q-school next fall by competing against professionals throughout the year.
It's been a great week and a nice way to finish the year. I plan to come back to Florida in January to compete in some amateur events to start the 2009 season.
