With a field of 312 players from 34 countries---including 25 golfing hopefuls from Canada---the 10th annual Duramed FUTURES Tour Qualifying School tees off on three courses in Lakeland, Florida today.
Behind the United States, Canada is the nation with the most players (22) and six those are from Brfitish Columbia.
Heading the BC contingent is reigning Amateur title holder, Kira Meixner, a veteran member of the Royal Canadian Golf Association's National Women's Amateur Team, who intends to remain as an amateur through the 2009 season regardless of this week's outcome.
There are 10 players from Ontario, five from Alberta and four from Quebec.
South Korea will be represented by 19 players, three seven are from Sweden and Australia and Japan each have six representatives. Of the U.S. states, Florida has 34 residents in the field, followed by California with 23 players, Texas with 15 and North Carolina with 10 players. Two nations not typically represented in the field will be Egypt and Kenya.
The four-day tournament will be contested at Cleveland Heights Golf Course, Huntington Hills Golf & Country Club and Imperial Lakes Country Club, all in the Greater Lakeland area, with the fourth and final round played at Cleveland Heights.
