44 Canadian JGA Members Headed To U.S. Colleges

The list of CJGA graduates joining the ranks of teams that compete in the top ranked National Collegiate Athletic Association for the 2008/2009 season totals an all time high of 44

The list of graduates includes former CJGA Team Canada members: Nicole Vandermade, Laura Hildebrandt, Kelsey Klatt, Juanita Rico, Jessica Wallace, Braeden Cryderman, Derek East, Luke Leibel, Tim Lew, Zach MacDougall, Jonnie Motomochi, Stuart Pulkinen, Sebastian Szirmak, Jack Wesche, and BC Amaeur ChampionEugene Wong, the 2008 World Junior Champion.

Courtice, Ontario's Tim Lew is currently the top ranked Canadian freshman according to Golfstat as the former two-time CJGA Nike Golf Junior Championship winner has competed in three events for the University of Akron and boasts a scoring average of 71.89. His top result is a 6th place finish at the Herb Wimberley Collegiate that was held on October 27th and 28th. Brantford, Ontario's Nicole Vandermade, a former member of CJGA Team Canada at the North America Cup, has made a significant contribution to the University of Texas in compiling an impressive stroke average of 72.83 in the four events in which she has played including a strong 4th place result at the Dick McGuire Invitational in mid-September.

"Canadian junior golfers are entering the collegiate ranks with loads of tournament experience under their belt," admitted Earl Fritz, Executive Director of the CJGA. "It's no surprise that collegiate coaches are recognizing the contributions that Canadians can make at the next level.
