The Roller Coaster Game Called Q-School

It's only the first stage and the ride has just begun and already British Columbia pros Bryn Parry of Vancouver and Chris Baryla of Vernon have been riding the PGA TOUR's Qualifying School leaderboard like Hawaiian surfers at the Bonzai Pipeline.

On Day One in Beaumont, CA Parry was 5 shots out of the lead and out of the top 100. Day two saw the winds come up, Parry's score go down and 18 holes later he was tied for first. However, a four-over 76 on Day Three has left the Seymour Creek teaching pro tied for 14th, 4-under par and six shots behind the leader, Nick Obie, who is 2-under par with 214.

Baryla on the other hand, started with a three-under 69, ballooned to a 78 and after Thursday's third round of 69 again, now finds himself tied for fourth place at even par 216.

Another Dude riding the surf is American David Oh who opened with a par, skyrocketed to an 80 and came in yesterday with a six-under 66 and is tied for eighth.

Vancouver's Phil Jonas needs to make up some ground today. He's tied for 49th heading into the final round of this first stage and at (75 - 78 - 74) 11-over par 227 can ill afford to be putting double bogeys on his card as he has each day.
