Soobin Kim - - Canadian Junior Girls Champion

A first time member of British Columbia's junior girls provincial team, Kim finished Friday's round on the St. Charles Club course evenly matched with Anne-Catharine Tanguay of Quebec City at six-over par 294.

Both players teed off again on the 18th hole to decide the winner and following an impressive seven foot putt Kim birdied her 19th hole of the day to claim the national title.

"I was nervous this morning when I first started out, but by the time I got into the back nine I had settled in and was feeling good," said Kim. "When I birdied the 13th I knew I had a good chance for the win and it was a nice boost to push me through."

The 15 year old, whose score of 294 also earned her the Juvenile Girls' division title, kept control of her nerves heading into the sudden-death play-off.

"I tried to think of it as just another hole," said Kim, who also claimed the Juvenile Girls title. "When I went for my putt I just focused on believing it would go in and when it did it was just the greatest feeling, just unbelievable."
