Jackie Little Comes Up Big Again For BC

Playing in St. John's Nfld., at the Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club, Little posted an even par 71 and, together with team members Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna, Elaine Blatchford of Surrey and Vancouver's Phyllis Laschuk, helped BC post a final round of 37-over par 463 to win by 22 strokes in front of Ontario at 485. Alberta was third at 487.

A five-time winner of the BC Amateur and the reigning BC Senior and Mid-Amateur title-holder, Little's two round total of 5-over par 147 puts her 11 shots ahead of Palahniuk, Cheryll Damphouse of Amherstburg, Ont., and Alyson Martin of Vancouver with 18 holes remaining.

The winner will also be rewarded with an exemption into the U.S. Women's Senior Championship.

Among four players tied for fifth place at 19 over are Joyce Trapp of Calgary, Karen Pultz of Surrey, Vancouver's Holly Horwood and Debbie McDonald of Claremont, Ont.

Defending Seniors champion Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. sits tied for 14th at 22-over 164.

In the super seniors division, Alyson Martin shot a second consecutive 8-over 79 to maintain first place at 16-over 158.
