There are numerous ways of getting onto a golf course. You can show up at the pro shop, make a phone call to book a reservation or be invited by a member. Of course, these are the novel old fashion ways. Today more and more golfers are encouraged to do it on-line. But even the on-line methods are changing as evidenced by this TeeTimes announcement.
TeeTimes.net has announced that it has launched a new website and online tee time reservations service at http://www.teetimes.net. In addition to facilitating the booking of online tee times (as the domain name implies), the website also enables golfers to easily stream available golf tee times right from their favorite golf course into their personal electronic calendaring application. TeeTimes.net is the first online tee time reservations system to equip golfers with this functionality in what is being called Golf Course Calendar Feeds.
To use the new tee time calendaring service, golfers need to visit the TeeTimes.net website and find their favorite golf course. Once their golf course has been identified, the golfer simply clicks on an "Add to Calendar" button and the golf course's available tee times are added to their electronic calendar, including Microsoft's Outlook 2007, Apple's iCal, Google Calendar, and countless others. Golfers can then browse their calendars, see the golf course's tee times overlaid across their free/busy schedule, and find an appropriate time to play a round of golf. Once a tee time has been selected, the golfer simply clicks on an embedded hyperlink within the calendar event itself, and is dropped into an online booking form, where they can securely confirm their reservation.
TeeTimes.net uses new technology from Vancouver-based Calgoo Software to deliver and synchronize golf tee times with the electronic calendars of its clients. Calgoo is a world-leader in In-Calendar Marketing and electronic calendar interoperability. TeeTimes.net has fused this technology into the largest online golf reservation network in the golf industry, as powered by GolfSwitch. GolfSwitch technology extracts and publishes real-time tee time inventory for its member golf courses, ensuring the tee times listed in a golfer's calendar are nearly identical to that which they would receive were they to call the golf course directly.
There are more than 1000 golf courses across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Spain, and the Caribbean that will be available on the TeeTimes.net golf calendar network.
While the TeeTimes.net service is targeted as a time and convenience service for golfers, the value to golf courses to be included in the network is significant. By having tee time inventory included right in the calendars of their most loyal customers, a golf course cements the client-course relationship while increasing the share-of-wallet from every golfer. Using in-calendar marketing in this manner will also enable golf courses to help more golf courses achieve peak playing capacity.
