BC Dominates Senior Women's Opening Round

With Jackie Little of Port Alberni and Vancouverites Phyllis Laschuk and Alyson Martin holding down the top three positions in the Senior competition, Martin also leading in the Super Senior Division and a BC trio leading by 12 shots in the Inter-provincial team showdown, it would seem there is nothing left over for the rest of Canada.

Of course, this is only day one in this 54-hole national championship for the field of 156 players who have reached the age of 50 as of today.

Little, the 2008 BC Senior Women's and three-time Mid-Amateur champion shot three birdies, six bogeys and a double to post a round of 5-over par 76 and holds a two shot lead over Laschuk and three over Martin

At 8-over 79 Martin is also three strokes clear those in the Super
Senior field which is open to female amateurs who have reached their 60th birthday by today.

Among other BC contenders, Holly Horwood of Vancouver and Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna share a piece of seventh place while defending Canadian Senior champion Alison Murdoch of Victoria, is at 15-over 86 and tied for 26th.

In Inter-provincial team play, British Columbia posted a 235 total to lead Ontario by 12 strokes. Quebec is alone in third at 251 and Alberta is fourth at 252.
