Alberta Captures Record Fourth Willingdon Cup

For the fourth consecutive year a team from Alberta has captured the four-man Willingdon Cup Team Title, played in conjunction with the Canadian Amateur.

The foursome of Jordan Irwin and Scott Stiles of Calgary, as well as Tom McKinlay Jr. of Lacombe and Mitchell Evancez of Red Deer combined for a two-day team-total of one-under par 425.

With the win, the host squad becomes only the second province to capture four consecutive Willingdon Cup titles., but the first to win four years in a row. Team Ontario was the first consecutive team to accomplish the feat in 1946-47, with their first two wins (1938, 1939) coming prior to a six year hiatus due to World War II.

Team Manitoba, the first round leaders, finished tied for second with British Columbia. Both teams finished three-strokes back of the leaders at 2-over par.
