Jackie Little - Now A Formidable Champion Among Seniors

Making her début in senior competition at the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club in Vernon, Little began with a one stroke lead after the first round and finished her 54-hole romp 13 strokes in front of the field and at 3-under par 210, the largest margin and the lowest score since the tournament was changed to three rounds of stroke play in 1980.

"Some of my putts were just not dropping - so close that it was a tap in", said Little, a five-time BC Amateur title holder (1992-93, 2000-01-03) and two-time winner of the BC Mid-Amateur (2006-07). "I'm pleased with the way I played, though. The course was in great condition and I really enjoyed the players in my group."

Past B.C. Senior Women's champions, Lynda Palahniuk (2002) of Kelowna finished in second place at 10-over 223 followed by 2003 champion, Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver at 12-over 225. Elaine Blatchford of Surrey, rallied to hold on for fourth place with 13-over 226 while Karen Pultz of Surrey, rounded out the top five at 228.

Reigning Canadian Senior Women's champion, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, claimed finished in sixth at 16-over 229, two shots ahead of defending champion Holly Horwood of Vancouver.

Little, Palahniuk, Laschuk and Blatchford will represent British Columbia in the provincial team competition at the Royal Canadian Senior Women's Championship August 25-28, at the Bally Haly G&CC in St. John's, NFLD.

The B.C. Senior Women's Amateur is one of 12 provincial championships conducted annually by the BCGA.
The B.C. Senior Women's Championship is open to all female amateur golfers who have reached the age of 50 by June 19, 2008.
